What a name, right? When I say the world’s best, I mean it. I haven’t tasted every lemon bar recipe in the world, but I have had my fair share of them, and have found this recipe to be the best. This recipe is 100% a family favorite. My mom created it years ago and we’ve been making them almost weekly ever since. Even those who “don’t like lemon”, love these bars. They’re perfectly buttery, lemony, and refreshing, but they aren’t overly sweet. I hope you enjoy!
The World’s Best Lemon Bars
- 2 Cups flour
- 1 Cup very soft unsalted butter
- ½ Cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 Cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ Tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ Tablespoon lemon extract
Preheat oven to 350⁰.
For the crust, mix flour, butter, and sugar in a mixing bowl until combined well. Press into a 13 x 9 x 2 pan. Press the sides so the mixture comes up a little bit.
Bake crust about 12-15 minutes. Watch it so it does not burn. Take out of oven and cool for only 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl mix filling ingredients until smooth. Pour over the crust. Smooth with a spatula.
Bake about 15 minutes or until golden brown. You will need to watch that it does not burn.
Cool. You can dust powdered sugar over the bars. Cut into squares.
